Greece is definitely no stranger to the world. It has long been a tourist hotspot since its modern beginnings. It’s also well known for its original beginnings, as it is a country full of internationally-taught history. Both Greece and Rome are incredibly important for their art. In fact, Greece is one of the top 20 must-see tourist destinations in the world.
There are three main things about Greece and the Greek islands that cannot be overlooked. These three things are ancient civilisational architecture, fantastic landscapes and a thriving tourist trade. Greece is hot in the summer, I’m not going to lie, but the beaches and pristine waters make it all worth it. Especially if you use services like Airbnb and Tripedia. On these sites you can find affordable accommodation and tips and tricks for the best holiday of your life.
Over the past decade, Greece’s tourism trade has grown rapidly, with travellers of all kinds visiting the region. From celebrities to politicians, singers, models and people like you and me; Greece is visited all year round, and some even become a place of residence. Greece is not one of those places that offers little – it offers a LOT. In fact it would be ideal to stay for a few weeks if possible to take it all in.
Discover Greece
If you’re wondering why you should visit Greece, let me give you a few reasons… the nature, the art, the architecture, the beaches, the amazing views and the warm and accepting culture, rich in history. It would take about a year to explore the whole country and see all the sights because of the additional islands. Greece really is a wonderful place to visit, but not just for the beaches, nightlife and Mediterranean atmosphere.
Are you a fan of art or architecture? Maybe both? Visit the Acropolis of Athens, a monument to the 5th century BC temple on a small hilltop. Make your way to the Parthenon, the iconic ruins of the 5th century BC temple. I assure you, these structures are breathtaking, and unless you’re a celebrity; this may be your only chance to witness history. You can also visit the Acropolis Museum for a taste of ancient history. This museum actually houses ancient treasures. Again, this is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity for many.
See Athens
Athens is the capital of Greece, and it has quite a lot to offer if you have the opportunity to visit. All the attractions mentioned earlier are actually located in Athens. No matter how big and incredible these attractions are, Athens still has much more to offer than meets the eye. For example, you can sign up for a very reasonably priced tour.
Highlights of Athens: a mythological tour allows travellers the unique opportunity to witness all that Athens has to offer. At least as far as the architecture is concerned, the Athens Highlights Tour includes a guide who will lead you through the area, introducing you to a series of buildings and the like, while giving you all the facts that make them legendary. You will also hear the stories behind Athens from its discovery to its golden age. Learn about the wars, the rebirth and much of the mythological history. Not only can you see all the main attractions, but also some smaller but equally fascinating sights that are sometimes not visited.
Discover Nafplio
Nafplio is one of the most roman places in all of Greece. It is also one of the most beautiful cities in the country. At one point between 1823 and 1834 it was actually the capital of the ‘Greek state’. It is a seaport city with a lot of water traffic, as you would expect. It is, of course, surrounded by water, making it a great place to visit the coast, sunbathe and breathe fresh air.
Travel through the city, discover charming neighbourhoods, friendly culture and local activities. The town itself is medieval in design, with narrow alleyways lined with cobbled promenades and neoclassical mansions surrounded by beautiful Bourginvillea trees. There are also several Turkish fountains in the area, where you can quickly stop and make a wish or kiss. There are so many photo opportunities in this town that you can load a memory card into your camera.
Once you reach the heart of the city, explore Syntagma Square and all the historic buildings nearby. From the various Turkish mosques to the Archaeological Museum and the Municipal Gallery, this small town with a cosy atmosphere has SO much to offer visitors. I highly recommend you drop by if you are heading to Greece.
have a lifetime adventure
Greece is one of those places that almost seems like a fantasy – at least to me. It’s also something we’ve all heard about all our lives. Not just because of school, history lessons, geography and the like – but because of the whole mythological history. All of this has more influence than we think. If you ever get the chance to witness Greece, don’t miss the opportunity. It really will change your life, guarantee it. For more information, visit us at .
